چکیده

Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) allows a Mobile Node to talk directly to its peers while retaining the ability to move around and change the currently used IP address. This mode of operation is called Route Optimization (RO), as it allows the packets to traverse a shorter route than the default one through the Home Agent. In Route Optimization, the peer node learns a binding between the Mobile Node’s permanent Home Address and its current temporary Care-of-Address. Once such a binding is in place, the peer node will send all packets whose destination is the Home Address to the Care-of-Address. This is potentially dangerous, since a malicious host might be able to establish false bindings, thereby preventing some packets from reaching their intended destination, diverting some traffic to the attacker, or flooding third parties with unwanted traffic. In this paper we discuss the design rationale behind the MIPv6 Route Optimization Security Design. *

Repeatability of large-scale signal variations in urban environments - Vehicular Technology Conference, 2003. VTC 2003-Fall. 2003 IEEE 58th

This paper quantifies the repeatability of largescale signal variations in an urban propagation environment. We propose a model and use field measurements taken in downtown San Francisco to quantify how similar the received signals appear when a mobile receiver revisits the same general area. The results establish bounds for repeated measurements within a given street that are taken on differen...

A roaming architecture for IP based mobile telephony in WLAN environments

IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks (WLANs) have become an increasingly popular user access technology and a flexible alternative to wired access. WLANs are now appearing not only as wireless extensions in private company networks, but also in homes and at public hot-spots. An attractive concept would be to use these WLAN access networks for public mobile telephony, but in order to accompl...

MIPv6 issues in delivering mobile multimedia

The majority of today’s multimedia applications and content reside on the Internet. Since multimedia content is distributed on the Internet using the Internet Protocol (IP), there is enormous interest in extending IP to multimedia mobile terminals. This would allow mobile terminals direct Internet access as well as access to intranet based multimedia. The current status of the emerging successo...

MAC for ad-hoc inter-vehicle network: services and performance - Vehicular Technology Conference, 2003. VTC 2003-Fall. 2003 IEEE 58th

In this paper we analyze the performance of ADHOC MAC, a new MAC protocol proposed within CarTALK200, a European research project with the purpose to design novel solutions for inter-vehicle communications. ADHOC MAC has been devised to provide a reliable single hop broadcast channel overcoming the hidden terminal problem, and an effective multi hop broadcast service by exploiting the connectiv...
